Onshitsu, Kira's Wakare-kai
11/8/08, Part 1

Since everyone would be there on the Saturday of Nov. 8th, my wakare-kai (going away party) was set for that date. It was really sweet for Yamaguchi-san to plan this party for me! I felt sort of embarrassed since I was just there for three months as an intern. But she planned for us to go to a gardener's private green house in Daikanyama(the landscape artist that had worked on Nina's acorn project) and then go to a Mexican restaurant (they knew mexican was my favorite food genre).

The green house was arrestingly beautiful.. the artist painstakingly replaces the flowers and maintains it daily, so we were told. I loved Yamaguchi-san's description of a greenhouse as a "winter garden."

It was so nice having most of us together for the garden and dinner. The restaurant definitely served Mexican food Japanese style (a variety of small dishes, small proportions).

For a going away present (!! I didn't expect all this!!), Uematsu-san had the guys buy me a fan from Takanomiya. Alida got me flowers and a lunchbox from Mono Comme Ca. Jeffrey copied me the complete collection of old pop hits by a famous composer. Kano-san gave me a gyoza-doraemon keychain from Ibaraki and a sock coin purse and a cake candle!!!! My goodness, Kano-san is so sweet T__T.

This picture reminds me that while in Japan, I convinced a 26-year old Todai medical student to try out avocado for the first time in his life (he liked it).
Afterwards, Alida invited a bunch of us to go out afterwards to her friend's party and then clubbing as the wakare-kai afterparty! I'll continue that story with part 2.
