Shimokitazawa Matsuri, NADiff
Sunday - Akira and I went to Shimokitazawa and it happened to be their annual festival! There were like 5 mikoshi and maybe 2-3 children's tiny mikoshi (small travelling shrine that mikoshi carriers take through town). There was festival music on all the PA system throughout town and then huge taiko drums, typical festival games, etc. It was really great, because usually you can't see this kind of festival in the Tokyo area with a small town vibe. I didn't even realize there was such a huge shrine in Shimokita (my favorite area in Japan). Also, it was pouring rain in the evening, like it has been almost everyday.
Monday - I met Russell Ferguson in Shibuya and took him to the 「NADiff a/p/a/r/t」 galleries/bookstore (after much getting lost on my part) and ate ice cream and pancakes in the Magic Room on the top floor. Then we went to Gallery White Room Tokyo to see Eikoh Hosoe's "Embrace" and "Ordeal by Roses," checking out La Foret along the way. And since Russell is good friends with the manager of the Boredoms, we watched a special documentary showing this week at Theater N in Shibuya on 77boadrums for free.
My camera batteries are dead. Waiting for charger to come from America
