  Nanzuka Underground, Yama

I visited the Nanzuka Underground gallery today (it really is underground) with artist Paul Davis (slacker humor, cheap political shots, diagrams, design-y posters). Then I walked from Shibuya to Harajuku, taking a detour in the Omotesando area. In Kiddyland in Omotesando, なんか店員さんがすごいイケメンだった。日本に一番カッコイ人かな。。

(I cut my hair!)

Then as I approached Harajuku I heard a bike bell and this girl swooshed by on a bike. Her outfit was beautiful. A tall (very very tall) almost British looking police hat, with a green/black plaid long top, jeans with the bottoms rolled up, frilly socks and brown leather shoes. She went into a convenience store and when I walked past, I turned to look over at her face and it was Yama from Tokyo Bopper!!! I'm a huge fan of her style (people that work in the top clothing shops in Japan can have kind of mini fan clubs (some, like people that work in Shibuya, become famous enough that magazines hire them as models because they have a built in fan-base)). She also frequently appears in magazine street snaps (like Fruits).
Here are a bunch of images:

Well, she passed by me again on her bike, and I think she was checking out my outfit! Sweeeeet. I wanted to follow her, because I assumed she was going to Tokyo Bopper, but I don't know what street she turned onto..

Anyway, looked around urahara, takeshita dori (with closet child and zona ~~~~ being the only things worthwhile) and then La Foret. If I buy anything in Harajuku during my stay it will be vintage brands from closet child. I was realizing how few people excite me in Harajuku when I was walking around and how little it suited me. Only a few people can really really do it well, and most of them work in clothing stores. It's still nice to see lolita and punks roaming freely in their natural habitat. Man, putting it all together is so expensive! I think there are a million other things I'd rather spend my money on than buying hundreds of dollars in separates for one outfit.
